About Subliem

The purpose of the association is to represent the interests of its members, in the broadest sense of the word.

Subliem is the study association for bachelor's and master's students of Science, Business & Innovation (SBI) at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. We organise study support, career events and a full agenda of drinks, parties, sports and trips.

The Green Heart of Subliem

The Members' Room, P-004

In the WN-building at the VU campus, Subliem has its own space, situated on the ground floor in room P-004. Here, members gather during breaks, borrels or after lectures.

The common room of Subliem is one of the most important places to SBI students. Subliem has set up three large fridges here where members can purchase cooled fizzy drinks, water and beer. Moreover, cheese melts can be found in the freezer and snacks in the snacks drawer to get your through the day.

The Members' Room is a place where people come together to discuss assignments, blow off steam after exams and discuss their creative ideas (businesses, holidays, study plans).

3 large fridges filled with food and drinks, or to store your own homemade food

Infinite power sockets
Coat rack and lockers to leave your things during lectures (at your own risk, but under constant supervision)
A rolling tap that comes in during spontaneous or organised drinks

Various committees of Subliem regularly organise events in the common room. Examples are pitch nights for up and coming entrepreneurs, borrels, games nights, monthly lunches, Monday borrels and more.

The board

Martijn Schouten

Chair

Since 9 January 2026 I have been chair of the XIXth board of Subliem. As chair I am informed of everything and involved in almost everything. My main task is to oversee and guide everything that goes on within the association. Unlike the other board positions I have no strictly defined tasks, but I do chair the weekly board meetings and attend meetings with other parties of the VU. I also represent the association on official occasions.

Louize de Croon

Secretary

As secretary I am responsible for handling the post and the mail, and the correspondence that comes with it. It is also my task to take minutes during meetings and to process the minutes of the General Members' Meeting. Another important task is keeping the member database and mailing lists up to date. Think of processing new members or removing former members, so that the emails are sent to the right people.

Renzo Dollekamp

Treasurer

As treasurer I have kept all financial matters within the association in order since 9 January 2026. That means that at the start of the year I draw up a budget and that for the rest of the year I make sure that everyone sticks to it as well as possible. It is very important that all income and expenses are properly recorded in bookkeeping in which all receipts, invoices, direct debits and statements can be found.

Chief Internal Affairs and Introductions

As Chief Internal Affairs and Introduction I am responsible for the entire introduction period for our programme. I also ensure good communication with the department and I am responsible for the members' room.

Kyan Sam-Sin

Chief External Affairs and Career

As Chief external affairs I am responsible for creating a future outlook for SBI students. I am the face of Subliem to companies. Together with the Committee for External Affairs (CEA), I ensure Subliem attracts enough corporate sponsors. Through sponsorships, I offer companies the opportunity to get in touch with our students and vice versa. This is put into practice at various events, among which the largest event initiated by Subliem: the Innovation Career Day (ICD).
